Roy Keane rips into “hard to like” Manchester United after narrow cup win – Man United News And Transfer News

Manchester United showed their best and very much their worst in a topsy-turvy FA Cup semi-final today.

The Red Devils found themselves cruising at 3-0 up after an hour but somehow managed to throw away their lead as Coventry scored a stoppage time penalty.

The Sky Blues felt they had won it in added time of extra time but thankfully the goal was chalked off for offside.

Despite Casemiro’s limp penalty miss, United managed to come out on top in the shootout as Andre Onana and Rasmus Hojlund proved to be the heroes.

One man who was less than impressed with his former side was pundit Roy Keane.

Speaking to ITV, Keane was furious with his old side’s efforts during the match.

“United were quite lucky, they were almost embarrassed to win that at the end,” he said.

The Cork native poured scorn over the team in general and stated, “I don’t like what I see. They are hard to like. They play in moments”.

Keane claimed that his former side were very fortunate to make it to the final, saying “my goodness, they rode their luck. I don’t know why we are surprised”.

Probably the greatest critique Keane threw at Erik ten Hag’s men was that “United looked like a Championship team”.

“With all the luck they had in injury time, I knew they were going to win it”.

The Irishman played in various United teams that were steeped in pride, fight and hunger.

Reflecting on the current side he stated, “I don’t see character in this group. It is getting to the stage where I’m actually starting to dislike them”.

Keane pointed the finger of blame at Andre Onana by claiming, “the goalkeeper at Man United wasting time at two goals up. Show more courage. They were almost frightened to win”.

The former skipper finished by painting a bleak future for his old side, saying “There are huge problems for United going forward”.

The one positive of the afternoon is the Red Devils will be at Wembley once more on the 25th May to face Manchester City. A win looks highly improbable but in football, anything can happen and at least they have the chance to perform a miracle that looked dead at the end of extra time.
