‘Teams go to five sangomas for Chiefs’

It’s been a while since Kaizer Chiefs enjoyed high success. Coach Cavin Johnson suspects that sangomas are playing a role.

KAIZER CHIEFS WINLESS IN 2024

Amakhosi can’t find a break. The Soweto giants are yet to win a match in 2024. Chiefs have played three games. The results have been two goalless draws and the defeat to Milford FC in the Nedbank Cup.

The Nedbank Cup exit also marked nearly 10 years without a trophy.

TOO MANY SANGOMAS?

Johnson believes that Chiefs often battle to match the opposition team’s motivation.

“This is our problem, we have a crop of athletes, that any one of the 30 have to put up their hands and we need to make sure that we come to this field and play better than we did today,” Johnson said via iDiskiTimes.

Teams probably visit more than one sangoma before facing Chiefs, Johnson believes.

“And you mentioned the same things that we worried about that every time we play, someone is in a worse position than us. But then you must also believe that anybody who plays Chiefs and not only now but since the last eight years, anybody who plays Chiefs always puts up their hand, and instead of going to one sangoma, they’re going to five,” the 65-year-old added.
