Kaizer Chiefs hero opens up on family tragedy

Wandile Duba is fast becoming a key player for Kaizer Chiefs under coach Cavin Johnson.

The teenage attacker earned his first start of the campaign on Tuesday night against Golden Arrows.

Duba immediately repaid Cavin Johnson’s faith in him with a superb match-winning goal for the Amakhosi.

After impressing in the reserve side, Duba was promoted to the Kaizer Chiefs first team last season.

Last year, Wandile Duba’s mother’s death overshadowed his professional debut for Kaizer Chiefs.

The youngster has since opened up on his year of mixed emotions. Take a look at what he had to say below.

Kaizer Chiefs star opens up on family tragedy

“It has been tough for me since I lost my mother last season, because she was always very supportive,” Duba told the Kaizer Chiefs media department.

“My family and friends have been there for me even more than ever since I lost my mom.

“In some ways my friends have become my parents in the way they treat me, giving me guidance and advice. Likewise with my family, and I really appreciate it.”

In other news, former Kaizer Chiefs attacker Bernard Parker believes TS Galaxy coach Sead Ramovic is the right man to lead the Amakhosi.

Parker, who enjoyed a trophy laden 11 year spell at Naturena believes the Bosnian mentor can return the club back to its glory days.

Chiefs last won a trophy all the way back in 2014, are set to go another season trophy-less!

Parker picks preferred next Kaizer Chiefs coach!

“Coach Sead has got what it takes to coach any team in the country, what I mean is the big three, Sundowns, Chiefs or Pirates, definitely,” Parker said on SABC Sport as quoted by Goal.

“At Chiefs, the mental part is a big factor at the club, not the quality, not anything else and Coach Sead is a big fan of mentality and what keeps us going at TS Galaxy is that we’ve got a strong mindset.

“I believe if Sead can get the nod at Kaizer Chiefs definitely good things will come out of them.”
