Orlando Pirates to lose talented playmaker

Orlando Pirates are facing a fight to keep hold of playmaker Kabelo Dlamini.

RAJA CASABLANCA WANT DLAMINI

According to Soccer-Laduma, Moroccan giants Raja Casablanca are interested in the services of left-footed playmaker Kabelo Dlamini. Although he’s not been a regular part of the furniture at the club, Dlamini did impress at the back end of 2022-23 with several notable contributions in the final third.  This term he has a goal and an assist from 11 league appearances.

“Actually it’s coach Zinnbauer who wants him (at Raja Casablanca). He has already talked to the people who are involved with Kabelo (Dlamini). I understand he has been given the go-ahead at his team in Morocco to look for the players who he thinks can help the team fight for the league title next season and Kabelo’s name is on top of the list.” Said one source to the publication.

A second source confirms that Pirates have also not given up on keeping Dlamini, despite Raja Casablanca’s interest.

PIRATES STILL KEEN TO KEEP HIM?

Although the interest from Casablanca is concrete, the Sea Robbers haven’t given up on retaining the 27-year-old star.

“His (Dlamini’s) current (Pirates) contract expires in June and the way things are looking now, the coach and the technical team are happy with his performances and they would want to renew his contract and keep him at the club. The talks for his new contract are also ongoing and it will be very tough to make the final decision whether to keep him or let him go to Morocco. Things will be clear at the end of the season. But what we know is Raja Casablanca are serious about him,” said the second source.

PIRATES NO LONGER INTERESTED IN MATSHEKE

Orlando Pirates pursued a deal for ex-Kaizer Chiefs star Darrel Matsheke in March despite rumours he was extending his Stellenbosch contract. However, the Cape Winelands side has since parted ways with the player. According to Soccer-Laduma, that has put the Buccaneers off the scent.

“There was interest from Pirates in the player (Matsheke) when he was playing for Stellenbosch. But after he was released from Stellenbosch in the way it happened, the move is now unlikely to happen,” said a source close to the publication.

BUCS STARS ARE ONE BOOKING AWAY FROM A SUSPENSION

Bandile Shandu, Miguel Timm, Sipho Chaine and Thabang Monare are all a single yellow card away from an automatic suspension. Their defeat to Sekhukhune and disappointing 1-1 draw with Swallows cast some gloom over the Bucs’ league campaign, but they responded with a stunning 7-1 win over Golden Arrows last time out. Tapelo Xoki and Nkosinathi Sibisi, however, will miss the AmaZulu clash through suspension.
