Ex-Kaizer Chiefs star returns to Soweto giants!

A former Kaizer Chiefs star has found himself back in Soweto, following his recent contract termination.

Kgaogelo Sekgota joined Stellenbosch on a free transfer from Chiefs at the beginning of the season, winning the Carling Knockout Cup.

Chiefs released a number of players at the beginning of the season as they looked to revamp their squad. One of the departments they signed players in was their attack. This saw the additions of Pule Mmodi, Ranga Chivaviro as well as Jasond Gonzales. This meant that certain players would be rendered redundant, and one of the players Chiefs placed in that category was SekgotaSekgota joined two other senior attackers in Caleb Bimenyimana and Kamohelo Mahlatsi at the exit door of Naturena.

Sekgota quickly found a new home at Stellenbosch, even winning a trophy within six months at the club. Something he failed to do in two seasons at Chiefs, so it was a big mystery when he was promptly released. It was then reported by this website that he was eventually released due to disciplinary issues. Now following weeks of training alone, it is reported he has returned to a former club. According to Soccer-Laduma, that team being Soweto giants Moroka Swallows.

Sekgota training with Swallows

“According to Siya sources in Gauteng, Sekgota has been spending the last few days training with Moroka Swallows. There, he is hoping to impress the Dube Birds hierarchy. The source further indicated that Sekgota has not officially put pen to paper with Swallows just yet, but there are possibilities of a potential deal.” Wrote the publication.

Sekgota would be returning to familiar territory at Swallows, having signed for the club after Bidvest Wits. From there, he impressed enough to earn a contract at Chiefs, where he spent two seasons. He was then released at the start of the current, and was swiftly picked up by Stellenbosch. It remains to be seen if he will be signed before the end of the season.
