Benni McCarthy’s agent, Rob Moore, has hinted at McCarthy’s potential availability for the Bafana Bafana head coach position should Hugo Broos move to the Tunisian national team.

Benni’s ambition and current role

Currently serving in a coaching capacity within Manchester United’s first team, McCarthy, the former South African international, harbours a lifelong ambition to lead his nation’s football team, Bafana.

Despite negotiations in the past, the South African Football Association (SAFA) ultimately appointed Broos. However, recent reports from Mosaïque FM suggest that Broos is nearing a deal with the Tunisian Football Federation.

McCarthy’s agent Moore,  also revealed that Kaizer Chiefs is not ready for him.

Challenges and opportunities for Broos’ potential move

One hurdle in Broos’ potential move is the need to resolve his contract with the South African Federation, where he remains as Bafana Bafana’s coach.

Sources cited by Mosaïque FM indicate widespread support for Broos due to his experience and success on the continent. However, Belgian tactician Broos must satisfy certain conditions, including resolving his contractual obligations with South Africa, as set by Tunisian Football Federation’s technical director, Belgacem Malouche.

Upon the completion of formalities to terminate his contract, Broos is expected to swiftly assume his role as head coach of the Tunisian national team. He will be accompanied by his seasoned assistants, who bring considerable experience in African football.

Broos impending transition and Benni’s availability

In an exclusive conversation with The South African. Rob Moore confirmed Benni’s interest in the Bafana Bafana role. Should Broos’ move materialise. Shedding light on McCarthy’s eagerness to contribute to South African football’s future.

“If that is true, that would be interesting,” Rob Moore told this publication.

“Benni(McCarthy) would be available to be considered for the national team[Bafana Bafana] I’m sure. After the end of June he would be a free agent. Meaning no compensation would be payable, in order to acquire him. But let’s see if Broos to Tunisia is true first.”
