Mokwena on ‘irreplaceable’ Sundowns skipper Zwane

Mamelodi Sundowns skipper Themba Zwane is one of the finest and coach Rulani Mokwena says he is irreplaceable.

Mokwena’s sentiment comes after that of Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos who says he has found Zwane’s replacement.

Mokwena argues that the Tembisa-born Sundowns skipper is a generational talent and he can’t easily be replaced

The Masandawana mentor, says Zwane is a good person who doesn’t whine when taken off the field.

Mshishi, 34, is now close to hanging up his boots and there is talk about who will replace the soft-spoken midfielder.

Speaking to the media, Mokwena says Zwane remains a vital cog for Sundowns and if he is not there, the club can’t play well.

MOKWENA DROPS VERDICT ON SUNDOWNS’ IRREPLACEABLE ZWANE

Just before the upcoming friendlies, Broos said Orlando Pirates’ Patrick Maswanganyi is a perfect replacement for Zwane who’s on form for Sundowns.

“We can’t replace him. One of the greats of South African football who happens to be a family member,” says Mokwena per Phakaaathi.

“(Jomo Sono) always says to me that your biggest mistake is putting Themba Zwane on the bench.”

“Everytime Sundowns doesn’t play well, I always get that message from him.

“You speak of a man who has unearthed some of the best footballers in the country’s history.

“He was one of the greatest also in Jomo Sono.

“He always tells me that you can’t replace Themba Zwane because he is a generational talent and a good person.”

RULANI GUSHES OVER ZWANE’S CHARMING PERSONALITY

The Bafana star midfielder, Zwane receives praise from his coach, Mokwena for being selfless at Sundowns.

In addition, the astute coach claims that the star’s professionalism is what also puts him head and shoulders above his peers.

“You saw when we took him off in the last game, he doesn’t whine,” adds Mokwena about Zwane.

“You get that thing sometimes from players who are at a certain level.

“He doesn’t know how good he is with these types of players.

“It will be another 10 or 15 years until we have a player like that.

“And maybe even surpass his level. So I’m not going to even try to replace him because it’s impossible.”
