Top Bafana Afcon performer heading to Kaizer Chiefs?

Kaizer Chiefs are believed to be pressing ahead with their transfer plans for next season.

Chiefs opted not to make any signings in the January transfer window, with expected to change in the next window.

During the last transfer window, Chiefs had been linked with the likes of Fawaaz Basadien from Stellenbosch FC. Oswin Appollis of Polokwane City has also made the list as well as Riaan Hanamub of AmaZulu. Another player that was linked with the club is attacker Tashreeq Matthews, who ended up signing with rivals Mamelodi Sundowns. In the goal keeping department, they have also been heavily linked to Nigerian international goalkeeper Stanley Nwabili.

Additionally, the likes of Sage Stephens and Siphesihle Mkhize also recently made the Chiefs list. But with what team manager Bobby Motaung had said, none joined in January.  But that stance hasn’t prevented Chiefs from planning ahead. Earlier in the year Amakhosi were thought to be interested in Bafana Bafana international midfielder Siphephelo Sithole. According to KickOff.com there has been no contact from the club to his agent.

Chiefs haven’t made contact yet for Sithole

“No one talked with me (at Chiefs) about that situation, only European clubs. I work for my client, you know, for Yaya. If some offer comes, I will go to my client and explain what the type of the contract or proposal is and after that we will discuss our way or next move. But until now, Kaizer Chiefs have not told me anything. No one from South Africa (clubs) has called me. Only European clubs,” said Sithole’s agent Manuel Tomas

Can they get him though?

Chiefs’ pursuit of Sithole might be too ambitious, however, with his agent confirming Italian Serie A interest in the player. Furthermore, he still has a year left on his contract at Tondela, with Amakhosi not always keen to pay big. Therefore, it seems unlikely that a player would turn down a   move to a top league for a local switch.

Stranger things have happened in the past though and Chiefs will be hoping for the same with regards Sithole.
