Kaizer Chiefs prioritize the signings of TWO coveted Bafana stars!

Kaizer Chiefs want to spruce things up in wide areas in the transfer market. Two top-quality Bafana Bafana stars are in their sights.

Chiefs want to make a massive splash

Oswin Appollis and Elias Mokwana are hot properties in the league this season. 22-year-old Appollis, now a full Bafana Bafana international, was in the AFCON squad and has five goals and three assists for Polokwane this season. That’s across all competitions. He’s a left-winger who can also operate comfortably in central areas. Mokwana, two years his senior, has been the talisman for an outstanding and ever-improving Sekhukhune team under Lehlohonolo Seema. He’s got four goals and four assists in the league this term. Kaizer Chiefs are keen on signing both coveted players.

”Chiefs are currently his first choice should there be a good deal for him and he believes playing for Amakhosi will give him a chance to be a regular at Bafana,” the Citizen reported.

“Another Bafana Bafana player from this AFCON squad, who has been linked with [Kaizer] Chiefs, has been Polokwane City attacker Oswin Appollis, who was also instrumental in the Rise and Shine’s hard-fought 1-0 win over Moroka Swallows this past weekend,” as per iDiskiTimes.

2023-24 SEASON IN A NUTSHELL

Chiefs have scored 19 goals in 23 games. That means 10 top-flight teams have scored more than them. To be placed 11th out of 16 in that metric isn’t acceptable for a club of this stature, but it’s nothing new. Last season they only got 32 goals in the entire campaign. That left them with the seventh-best attack in the division even though ended fifth. It’s clear where the issues lie. Furthermore, they were the only side in the top six with a negative goal difference. If this is anything to go by, pursuits of Mokwana and Appollis seem to be necessities not luxuries.

WHAT’S NEXT FOR KAIZER CHIEFS?

Next is a trip to face Richards Bay on Saturday the 20th of April. Kickoff there is at 15:00. Is a match against a relegation-threatened team a guarantee of three points? Of course, it’s not. Amakhosi fans aren’t even demanding entertainment at this point. A win will do.
