Former Bafana Bafana star Benni McCarthy has ruled himself out of the Kaizer Chiefs coaching job.
According to Kick-Off. the 46-year-old coach has bigger ambitions in Europe.
McCarthy is currently first team coach at Manchester United but according to reports, his contract expires end of the season.
The Bafana all-time leading goalscorer has been a coach at United since 2022 but could leave the club if current head coach Erik Ten Hag gets the boot.
Kaizer Chiefs have been linked with Benni McCarthy since news emerged that the ex-Porto could be on his way out.
“With the knowledge I’ve gained and everything I have contributed to this team, I want to take that and then eventually become the manager,” McCarthy told YOU magazine.
“Because once you’ve sat in the hot seat and you have experience the adrenalin of decision making and leading, you want to experience that one day.”
If McCarthy’s contract is not renewed, it looks likely that the he could remain in Europe than join Kaizer Chiefs.

Amakhosi are still searching for a permanent coach with Cavin Johnson currently serving as caretaker coach. The 65-year-old has not done enough to convince the management to hire him on a permanent basis.
Top agent Rob Moore said last year that Benni McCarthy was unlikely to join Kaizer Chiefs.
“To be honest, club football I don’t think [he will accept to coach],” Moore told Metro FM’s Sports Night Live.
“The national team would be a different story potentially I think. He never not wanted to take the national team job when it was offered to him,” he said as per Goal.com.
Moore said McCarthy did not take the Bafana job as they did not allow him to bring the backroom staff.
