Kaizer Chiefs’ Petersen shouts at coach Johnson

Football is indeed an emotional game. Just ask Kaizer Chiefs coach Cavin Johnson about Brandon Petersen.

KAIZER CHIEFS’ BRANDON PETERSEN LOSES IT AFTER ORLANDO PIRATES LOSS

In case you missed it, Amakhosi lost 3-2 to the Sea Robbers in the Soweto derby on Saturday. Ashley du Preez grabbed a shock lead for the Glamour Boys after six minutes.

Pirates’ Monnapule Saleng responded with the equaliser on 26 minutes. Du Preez made it 2-1 in the 44th minute before Pirates struck another 58th-minute equaliser through Thabiso Lebitso.

The winner came from Saleng in the 68th minute to mark a third straight Soweto derby win in two seasons.

Soon after the final whistle, Chiefs substitute goalkeeper Petersen was unhappy with coach Johnson.

CAVIN JOHNSON RESPONDS

Speaking after match, Chiefs coach Johnson said the Petersen moment is part of football. He said the chat was normnal.

They had lost the game, so the coach had no point in fighting the referee.

The former Cape Town Spurs and Bidvest Wits goalkeeper moved to Amakhosi in 2020. The 29-year-old from Elsies River recently signed a new two-year deal.

Meanwhile, Chiefs’ Petersen will likely remain on the bench in the next game. Amakhosi travel to Cape Town City on 30 March.
