Orlando Pirates close in on midfield signing – Report

On-loan midfielder Thalente Mbatha has been an impressive addition to the Orlando Pirates midfield. The club are set to trigger his buyout clause.

Orlando Pirates to make Mbatha’s move permanent

According to SoccerLaduma, Pirates will trigger a buyout clause in Thalente Mbatha’s contract to make his switch from SuperSport permanent. The 24-year-old joined the Sea Robbers on a six-month loan deal initially, but has impressed the technical team enough to justify a permament move.

“Everything is in place. It’s close to being done with the talks and agreements between the two clubs as well as the player involved. The technical team is very happy with what they have seen so far and they don’t want to let him go,” said the source.

AZIZ KI STAYS LOYAL DESPITE ORLANDO PIRATES INTEREST

Young Africans SC star Stephane Aziz Ki, a full Burkina Faso international, has rejected a pre-contract offer from Pirates. Born in the Ivory Coast, Stephane Aziz Ki has 12 caps and two goals for the Burkinabes. This season, the 28-year-old has 20 direct goal contributions in the Tanzanian Premier League. He also has two goals and two assists from 12 outings in the CAF Champions League. This guy knows his way to the goal.

“I have no expectations of leaving Yanga because I have not achieved the goals that brought me here. This club, which I love with all my heart, still owes me, and even money cannot fill my for this club,” said Aziz Ki on his future after links with Pirates as per The Citizen

Could Jose Riveiro’s men change his stance with a monthly salary offer that’s too good to refuse? According to SoccerLaduma, Aziz Ki is bagging €11,000 a month. That’s in the region R222k.

CHILLI BOYS NEXT

Chippa United, facing an uphill struggle to keep hold of star goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali, are the confirmed underdogs for their semi-final clash with Pirates in the Nedbank Cup on Saturday 4 May. To add more spice to the occasion, they’ve reportedly been sniffing around Pirates third-choice keeper Richard Ofori. The Ghanaian is seen as an ideal replacement should Super Eagles star Nwabali leave the club. Before that, Pirates face AmaZulu in DStv Premiership action on Saturday 20 April with kickoff at 17:30.
