Harry Kane opens up on his future amid suggestions of possible Man United summer switch – Man United News And Transfer News

Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane has addressed the constant speculation surrounding his future amidst suggestions that Manchester United could target him once again this summer.

Last summer, Erik ten Hag designated Kane his number one transfer target. United spent weeks chasing after the England captain but their efforts were thwarted by Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy, who made it clear he wasn’t at all interested in selling his talisman to a direct top-six rival. This is despite the fact that there were indications Kane himself was open to an Old Trafford switch.

Uninterested in playing games with Levy and Spurs, United eventually moved on and turned all their attention towards the recruitment of Rasmus Hojlund. The Red Devils forked out £72m to sign the Dane from Atalanta and in the process, spelling the end of their pursuit of Kane.

Meanwhile, the 30-year-old ended up joining Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich for an £82m fee. He has had no problem adapting to life in Germany, despite Bayern’s struggles on and off the pitch this season. Kane has so far plundered an impressive 32 goals and nine assists in 28 top-flight games. Across all competitions, he has managed 39 goals and 12 assists. On more than one occasion, his heroics in Munich have left United fans contemplating what could have been if a deal to lure him to the club had got over the line.

United open to going back in for Kane

In February, a report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that United are open to attempting another swoop for Kane if the player expresses a willingness to make a return to the Premier League.

This information was re-affirmed later on when it emerged that new United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe is a fan of the Bayern star and wants him to be INEOS’ marquee signing to kickstart the new era.

West Ham coach Kevin Nolan further fueled speculation about Kane’s potential return to England, hinting that the striker still harbours ambitions to play in his home country. Nolan pointed out that if Kane were to make a comeback, United’s Theatre of Dreams would likely be his next port of call.

Kane insists his future lies with Bayern

However, according to the Three Lions international, there are no uncertainties about where he is future lies – at the Allianz Arena, where he is eager to forge his legacy.

He spoke to reporters after Bayern’s Champions League quarter-final draw against Arsenal and said, “I’m really enjoying my experience in Germany and it was a step that I needed in my career for a fresh stimulus, a fresh challenge and new surroundings, new stadiums, new teams and I’m really happy that I made the move.”

“Of course, I know how big the Premier League is, I played there for so many years before and my future is at Bayern Munich. I have a four-year contract, I’m really enjoying it, hopefully I will be able to make something special happen this season.”

Kane added, “But if not, I’ll be ready to go again in the summer and turn things around. It’s been a disappointing season in the Bundesliga mainly compared to what Leverkusen have done.”

“You have to give them credit and respect but Arsenal was a chance to show our togetherness and we’ve done that.”

By Kane’s own admission, it seems that the ship has sailed for United and the 20-time English champions would be best served by looking elsewhere as they plot to bolster their attacking department.
