Former Orlando Pirates goalkeeper Jackson Mabokgwane faces uncertainty over his future at Richards Bay.
The 36-year-old joined the Kwa-Zulu Natal side this season having left Motsepe Foundation Championship side Black Leopards.
The well-travelled shot-stopper has only played six matches for the Natal Rich Boys. In the six matches, he conceded nine goals and only has two clean sheets. The former Orlando Pirates man has only two months left in his current contract with Richards Bay facing relegation.
Speaking to FARPost, Mabokgwane hoped for game time in the coming games.
“We have not started talks about my future at the club, but I’m happy here, and I’m sure I’ll be hearing from my manager with regards to that. Right now, my focus is to return to action, hopefully before our game against Kaizer Chiefs,” he said as per FARPost.
The ex-Bafana Bafana keeper mentioned that his role at the club was to mentor young players.

“Having been around in the game for some time, it is my responsibility to help and guide the younger ones.
“I try to help the boys analyse their performance, from training to matches and I’m glad most of them have responded well and have shown in their improved performances. And I try to be a big brother and here and there, advice about professionalism off the field as well.”
Having played for big teams like Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates, Mabokgwane knows what is needed for him to earn a new contract at Richards Bay. At this current rate, the Limpopo-born keeper is a second-choice keeper to Salim Magoola.
Orlando Pirates and Richards Bay will face each other for the third time this season next month. Mabokgwane was in goal the last time the two sides met in October with the match ending 0-0.
