Former Kaizer Chiefs star believes he was unfairly treated

Former Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Brilliant Khuzwayo believes he was unfairly treated by the club’s massive fan base.

In the shadow of Itumeleng Khune for much of his career, Khuzwayo believes fans were oblivious to his massive contribution at the club.

The last time the Glamour Boys won a cup trophy was back in 2014 (MTN8) and Khuzwayo was the man in goal for them during their 1-0 victory over Orlando Pirates in the final.

Furthermore, the last time Kaizer Chiefs won the league was back in 2014/15 with Khuzwayo making 20 appearances for the club while Khune managed just 10 appearances.

I was like a ‘side chick’ at Kaizer Chiefs – Brilliant

“If you remember correctly the last time Chiefs won a trophy it was MTN 8 and then the league, I was in goals,” Khuzwayo told Extra Time as quoted by IDiskkTimes.

“But the supporters were so glued that they still wanted Itumeleng, but the numbers were not adding up. He was the favourite and sometimes there was injustice that happened in terms of him getting the number one, when he didn’t work hard to get number one.

“One of the downfalls of Chiefs, which is why I left Chiefs. I was like a side chick at Chiefs knowing very well that he is gonna be there.”

In other news, former Kaizer Chiefs midfield general Willard Katsande has opened up on his new exciting coaching gig.

The former Amakhosi star, who holds a CAF D coaching licence, has joined fourth division side Crystal Lake FC.

While his exact position remains unconfirmed for now, the Zimbabwean legend already has his eyes set on a head coaching role in the top flight!

Take a look at what Kaizer Chiefs legend Willard Katsande had to say about his interesting venture into coaching below.
