Chiefs reach deal agreement with former Bafana star

Kaizer Chiefs have been assessing a former Bafana Bafana and SuperSport United player and an announcing is now imminent.

KAIZER CHIEFS TO SIGN LUKE FLEURS?

Following his departure from SuperSport in September, the 23-year-old defender with three Bafana Bafana caps began his trial with Amakhosi at Naturena in October.

A further report revealed that Fleurs impressed the club’s former coach Ntseki.

“He’s been doing very well,” Ntseki said via iDiskiTimes.

“The reason why we’ve brought him in just to work closer with him was to do a proper assessment, a proper profiling of Luke because he’s a quality player.

“I think that process is still going very well. Sooner we will be able to get in touch with him and his representatives and then a decision will be made.

“He’s still with us,” the Amakhosi boss concluded.

CHIEFS’ CENTRAL DEFENCE

Does the Fleurs assessment make sense? Well, yes. Modern football squads each have five options in central defence. Amakhosi currently have four: Given Msimango, Thatayaone Ditlhokwe, Njabulo Ngcobo and Zitha Kwinika.

AN ANNOUNCEMENT TO FOLLOW?

According to the latest report, Chiefs and Fleurs have agreed on a deal, subject to a medical test and announcement.

“SABC Sport can reveal Kaizer Chiefs have a principle agreement to sign defender Luke Fleurs after the 23-year-old impressed during an assessment,” Mazola Molefe reported.

“Pending a medical, Fleurs is set to reunite with the Botswana international, a centreback pairing likely to be revived under Johnson,” the report added.
