Bullish Arrows skipper: Nothing special about Chiefs

Golden Arrows skipper Nduduzo Sibiya is in a bullish mood as they get ready to welcome Kaizer Chiefs, saying they are not special.

Sibiya addressed the media ahead of the DStv Premiership clash against Chiefs on Saturday in KwaZulu-Natal.

While Amakhosi have made changes in their technical team, Sibiya expresses concerns as they are unsure how interim coach Cavin Johnson will approach the match.

However, he says they will prepare for the struggling Soweto giants and coach Mabhudi Khenyeza will look to get a win over his former employers.

The former AmaZulu and Platinum Stars mentor, Johnson was named as Molefi Ntseki’s successor on an interim basis – Ntseki was fired after their defeat to Usuthu in the Carling Knockout Cup last weekend.

“We don’t know what kind of game plan Cavin Johnson will bring and that can be a challenge for us. But if we prepare well, things will be fine,” Sibiya told reporters.

“We don’t know what he is planning and Chiefs would not want to lose another game. It will be tough since they lost and we don’t want them to turn [things around] against us.

“We treat every game equal, not that we are playing against Chiefs, then we have to be special, but that they have a new coach we are worried about.”

Abafana Bes’thende welcome the wounded Chiefs chasing their league sixth win of the season at Mpumalanga Stadium, Hammarsdale, on Saturday (3.30pm).

Furthermore, they are in high spirits having defeated Cape Town City in the Last 16 Carling Cup during the past weekend.

“What I can say is what we are doing at training, we are seeing it at games, we can get points and win,” adds the 28-year-old Arrows skipper.

“We planned to start well this season as you can see, we are collecting points. When we play at home, our focus is a win and if not, then a draw.

“But again, we want to win all the games at home.”

For Amakhosi, they are gunning for redemption and will target their fourth victory of the season as they occupy the eighth spot on the log table.
