Depleted Sundowns ready for war vs. Galaxy

Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Lebohang Maboe is ready for war against TS Galaxy, saying having a depleted squad is not a concern.

Sundowns head to Mbombela Stadium to visit Galaxy for their Carling Knockout Cup assignment on Wednesday night.

While the Brazilians will miss their key players who are in the Bafana Bafana squad which faced Cote d’Ivoire on Tuesday night – Maboe is unfazed.

The former Maritzburg United star, Maboe says joining a big club like Sundowns means every player must be ready considering their hectic schedule.

MABOE: SUNDOWNS READY FOR WAR VERSUS GALAXY

The Bafana international downplayed the fact that Sundowns will not cope without skipper Themba Zwane, Ronwen Williams, Mothobi Mvala, and Teboho Mokoena to mention a few.

He insists that the reigning DStv Premiership champions, Sundowns will not struggle without those key players.

“We have a very tight schedule but I think when you sign up for such a big club you have to be ready all the time and whenever the coach needs you, you just have to perform and help the team,” Maboe said as quoted by Sowetan.

“I think everyone is ready to perform and help the team to qualify for the next round.

“We always go into the match to win and knowing that it’s a cup game, I think it’s important to finish in 90 minutes.”

GALAXY BOSS SETTING SIGHTS ON AILING SUNDOWNS

Meanwhile, The South African reported that Galaxy boss Sead Ramovic is looking to hurt the depleted Sundowns.

He also hopes that luck will be on his side and lead his men to victory at Mbombela Stadium at 19:30.

“We all know that Sundowns are the benchmark in our league. They are a fantastic team, very organised and structured with a fantastic coach [Rulani Mokwena],” Ramovic told the media.

“So all in all, yes, it will be an exciting game for us and hopefully, this time, we can do it again and win against them.
