“We are running our own race” – Ntseki on Pirates success

Kaizer Chiefs head coach Molefi Ntseki insists that Orlando Pirates winning trophies doesn’t add pressure to his team.

The Buccaneers have lifted four trophies in the past three years much to the annoyance of many Kaizer Chiefs fans.

Ntseki says the club is not focusing on their rivals but running their own race.

The Glamour boys have gone eight years without any silverware and fans have already displayed their anger and frustration with the former Bafana Bafana head coach.

The 54-year-old coach took charge of Chiefs this season but has failed to get positive results so far.

“Can we welcome the new players, can we welcome the new season by having this understanding that we are running our own race,” Ntseki told the media.

“As much as there is so much pressure because there is expectations from everybody, especially when you look when the background and history of Kaizer Chiefs.

“I think the confidence, the belief in our players to say last time we lost in the semi-final in the Nedbank, last year we lost in the semi-fin al in the MTN8. This year again we lost in the semi-final in the MTN8, we are looking to play beyond the semi-finals, we are looking to play and win in finals,” he said.

Chiefs have lost their last five cup finals dating back to 2015 when they lost against Ajax Cape Town in the MTN8.

“I think it’s a very internal pressure that we’re going through. At the same time expectations from external forces is very high.”

It remains to be seen if Ntseki can inspire Amakhosi to cup glory this season.
