Kaizer Chiefs issue public apology to the PSL

Kaizer Chiefs FC have officially apologised to the Premier Soccer League for unruly fan behaviour.

The Glamour Boys found themselves in hot water for their fan’s behaviour following matches against SuperSport United and Mamelodi Sundowns.

Amakhosi fans were captured hurling objects at the club’s coaching staff following the matches and subsequently pleaded guilty to two counts of fan misbehaviour.

Kaizer Chiefs apologise to the PSL

“LETTER OF APOLOGY FOR KAIZER CHIEFS’ SUPPORTERS’ BEHAVIOUR AT KAIZER CHIEFS VS SUPERSPORT UNITED FC PSL FIXTURE ON 20 SEPTEMBER 2023 & CHIEFS VS MAMELODI SUNDOWNS FC MTN8 FIXTURE ON 23 SEPTEMBER 2023.” an official club statement read.

“Kaizer Chiefs hereby unreservedly apologizes to the Premier Soccer League, all PSL member clubs, SuperSport United FC, Mamelodi Sundowns FC and all of its peace-loving supporters, for the behaviour of some of its supporters at the Club’s PSL fixture against SuperSport United FC at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium on 20 September 2023 and against Mamelodi Sundowns FC at Lucas Moripe Stadium on 23 September 2023.

“The Club condemns this poor and unacceptable behaviour in the strongest possible terms.We have already commenced a process of engaging with Chiefs’ branches on supporter behaviour at football matches. Yours sincerely, Kaizer Chiefs”

In other news, Orlando Pirates legend Joseph Kamwendo believes he’s ready to coach in South Africa.

The former Buccaneers midfielder, who represented the club between 2007 and 2011, has confirmed his desire to coach in the Premier Soccer League.

Joseph Kamwendo has obtained his necessary coaching licences and is currently coaching back home in the Malawi top flight at Bangwe All Stars.

“Whether it’s as an assistant coach at a Premiership side or I can start as a head coach at a Motsepe Foundation side. I am well qualified to coach there.” Joseph Kamwendo told SoccerLaduma.

“I know and respect the requirements of coaching in South Africa. So I had to prepare myself first before saying I am ready for that.

“Now, I can say ‘I am ready’. I would be very happy if I can be given the chance at my former team Orlando Pirates but I wouldn’t mind coaching any other team.”
