Sundowns boss on Mendieta, he’s not Zwane’s replacement

While he quickly settled in and made an immediate impact at Mamelodi Sundowns, new arrival Junior Mendieta is not Themba Zwane’s replacement, so says coach Rulani Mokwena.

This is the sentiment shared by Mokwena after their 1-0 win over Richards Bay earlier this week and this is also because of Zwane’s absence in the starting eleven.

He labelled ‘Mshishi’ as a generational talent and that Mendieta must just enjoy his game, saying the Argentine gives him something special.

Mokwena has made it clear that his captain’s time on the pitch will be managed this season considering his age as a 34-year-old.
