Just last weekend, Amakhosi fans vented their anger at the technical team led by coach Ntseki as they pelted him with objects.

This happened after Chiefs lost 1-0 to TS Galaxy at Mbombela Stadium in their third DStv Premiership match of the 2023/24 season.

At the same time, the former Bafana Bafana skipper, Khune says winning a trophy or two will be enough to restore the fans’ trust in the squad.

“I know winning a trophy or two will wipe their tears and we also need to finish the season in a good position to qualify for the CAF Champions League,” Khune is quoted by Isolezwe.

“It’s better this season because there’s an extra trophy to fight for, the Carling Black Label Knockout Cup and this means there is a chance to wipe their tears – we just have to work hard as players.

“It’s not nice to hear that our fans can’t even go around freely because they have become a laughing stock from the fans or our rivals.

“We must understand and accept that Chiefs fans deserve at least one trophy but I promise we will turn things around – to restore their hope.”

Meanwhile, Amakhosi have a chance to lift the MTN8 title as they are in the semi-finals – they will face Mamelodi Sundowns next weekend.

Additionally, The South African reported that Ntseki has also urged the fans to understand the process and phase his team is going through.

“Firstly, we are in a process. Yet we are very quick to look at the end product,” Ntseki shared at Naturena on Thursday.

“But a process has its period and time frames. And when you look at what has been happening with the team since the start of the season, we are being tested.

“We are a new technical team, under my leadership that is. And we have played six new players in the few games we have played.”
