Mailula reacts after Toronto training with Bernardeschi

New Toronto FC striker Cassius Mailula has reacted to his first week in Major League Soccer after training with teammates such as Federico Bernardeschi.

Mailula joined his new teammates last week and will play for Toronto with the likes of Italy internationals Lorenzo Insigne and Bernardeschi.

The former Mamelodi Sundowns star, Mailula finally teamed up with his Toronto teammates in trainng after securing his papers such as a visa.

In sharing his experiences, the Limpopo-born Bafana Bafana star, Mailula said he is impressed with the technique of star players such as Bernardeschi at Toronto.

Besides the two Italians, Mailula will also share the dressing room with USA icon Michael Bradley who plays as a midfielder as he looks to make his name abroad.

“I can see why these guys are good players,” Mailula told TFC.

“You can see how they are in training, the attitude, the technique. To play with them opens my eyes. It helps me work hard to get to the level that they are.”

MAILULA ON BERNARDESCHI AND FACING MESSI

As he was an unused substitute in their 3-2 loss to Montreal, the Bafana star will be hoping to officially make his debut on Sunday.

The former DStv Premiership winner with Sundowns, Mailula also spoke of an opportunity to face current FIFA World Cup winner and ex-Barcelona stars, Lionel Messi and Serio Busquets.

“Other even other teams in MLS – [Leo] Messi, [Sergio] Busquets. To come to MLS it’s truly a great pleasure. For the team to give me this opportunity, I’m so grateful,” he added.

The South African previously reported that Sundowns received a staggering R30m transfer from Toronto.

Mailula’s move sees him join fellow Bafana stars in Njabulo Blom, Bongokuhle Hlongwane as well as Olwethu Makhanya in the United States of America.
