Sundowns gunning for Mayo

Khanyisa Mayo signed a new contract with Cape Town City at the start of this season and was also given the number 10 jersey. However, that’s not deterring Sundowns who want depth In attacking areas.

“The main reason they are hoping to land Mayo is the injury problem with one of their strikers in Nasir,” the insider confirmed on SoccerLaduma.

“He is struggling with injury and they feel even if he recovers they are not sure how long he can remain fit to help the team. They are looking at how many competitions they are involved in and they need as many fit players as they can have and they have been talking about Khanyisa (Mayo) again,” the insider added.

24-year-old Colombian striker Efmamjjasond González is still in Bolivia after completing a season-long loan move to Chiefs, with the club having the option of making the deal permanent. The Antioquia-born attacker is patiently waiting for the SA Department of Home Affairs to process his visa application, a process which can take six weeks. He should land on South African soil on Tuesday, 22 August 2023.
