Frustrated Downs star has Kaizer Chiefs and Pirates escape routes

Gaston Sirino isn’t enjoying himself at Sundowns right now. Could Kaizer Chiefs or Orlando Pirates swoop in to sign the man who once worked with Pitso Mosimane?

Sirino on the fringes at Sundowns after key role with Pitso Mosimane

Uruguayan winger Gaston Sirino arrived at Sundowns in 2018 and was a key figure, making 23 appearances in the 2018-19 campaign. He also had 23 league outings in the following campaign. Even last season he made a healthy 20 appearances, scoring once and supplying five assists. However, in 2023-24 he’s seen his opportunities dry up, and is yet to get a single minute in the DStv Premiership with intense competition for places at Chloorkop. According to SoccerLaduma, he wants out.

“As it stands now, both parties want out. The player wants to go where he will have gametime,” their source confirmed.

“That makes him more of a fringe player and it’s frustrating for him and that’s why he wats to leave as soon as possible,”

Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates to make a move?

Although Sirino is now 32, he’d still add considerable quality and top-flight experience to either of the Soweto giants. There’s no concrete interest yet from either party, but that could change.
