Will Shaun Bartlett become the first PSL coach to bite the dust?

Cape Town Spurs coach Shaun Bartlett steered his side back into the DStv Premiership after a brilliant season in the second division of South African football.

Spurs had to go through play-offs to get promoted to the Premier Soccer League(PSL) but have found the going tough in the opening rounds. The Cape side has sufferered back-to-back losses to TS Galaxy and Sekhukhune United in the league so far.

Reflecting on the game, Bartlett mentioned that the Urban Warriors will have to learn from their mistakes, especially at the PSL level.

“For me, it was a bitter pill to swallow,” Bartlett said.

“I thought we did really well in segments of the game but then obviously two mistakes cost us,” added Bartlett.

“Our boys will have to learn quickly, you can’t make mistakes like that at this level and get away with it. Maybe last season was a different story but at this level you will get punished by a better team.

“I don’t think we had the worst performance, we created opportunities, but we could have done better,”  Bartlett added.

The former Charlton Athletic man could get axed before Christmas should he fail to get results in the next coming games.

Spurs now travel to Polokwane to play Polokwane City at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday.
