In their squad, Chiefs have players who have been promoted from as far back as the 2018/19 season. No matter who the coach has been, there have been academy products being given an opportunity in the first team. The likes of Happy Mashiane, Siyabonga Ngezana, Nkosingiphile Ngcobo, Sabelo Radebe as well as the departed Njabulo Blom, were primarily promoted under Ernst Middendorp before getting an extended run through Gavin Hunt, during the season of the FIFA ban.

A younger brigade which features the likes of Mduduzi Shabalala, Samkelo Zwane and Wandile Duba have all been given a chance at Chiefs through current head coach Arthur Zwane. Now even though the results have not been forthcoming for Amakhosi, they do not seem to be in the mood to not throw some more young players into the first team deep end, giving them an opportunity to prove that they can, indeed swim.

Now according to Soccer-Laduma, the latest youngster to join that group could be Puso Dithejane. They report that he has signed a three-year deal with the Chiefs first team.

Chiefs give Dithejane a new deal

“It will depend on how they want to use him (Dithejane). He can still play for the Diski Challenge team while he is registered with the senior team, I think they have apparently given him the three years for now as the starting contract but I believe they will expand it.” Said one source to the above publication.

Another source insisted that Dithejane will get his chance at Chiefs next season.

“He (Dithejane) is still young and he has to learn from the senior players which means he will be given the chance to play in some of the games where the (Chiefs) technical team feels fit to use him. I think that’s why they have offered him a three-year contract for now,” said the source.

Dithejane usually operates in the wide areas as a right back and has already made his first appearance for Bafana Bafana before his senior debut for Chiefs is a big hint over his potential.
