‘We signed Chivaviro for two years’ – Biyela on Chiefs striker

Richards Bay chairman Jomo Biyela insists they have signed striker Ranga Chivaviro from Marumo Gallants for two years despite being sold to Kaizer Chiefs by Gallants.

Biyela insists that they have signed the top striker, Chivaviro from the relegated Limpopo-based club for two years and he has an option with his side.

Biyela is adamant that Chivaviro is their player as they signed him from the CAF Confederation Cup semi-finalists who announced that the talisman has been sold to Chiefs.

Speaking to SABC Sport, Biyela said they are not interested in reacting to media statements but they know the truth and details surrounding Chivaviro’s deal.

Born to a South African mother and Zimbabwean father, Chivaviro has been hogging the headlines in the past few months regarding his future.

With Gallants having been demoted to the Motsepe Foundation Championship, there was talk that he could sign for Orlando Pirates but it was later posted that Chiefs have won the race for his signature.

“We have seen a statement, but as a club, we know our story. So, we will not get into any debate about him,” Biyela told Victor Molefe of Ukhozi FM.

“We have signed him for two years with an option.

“We cannot act on statements that do not talk about us; we will only respond once he is unveiled elsewhere.” 

This war that is brewing for one of the DStv Prmeiership’s hot properties comes after Gallants released a statement on Friday, stating that Chivaviro has joined the Naturena-based Chiefs.

As also published by The South African, Chivaviro apparently signed a pre-contract with Richards Bay FC for two years with an option to renew while he was at Gallants.

And upon Gallants’ relegation from the South African top flight, a number of teams came for Chivaviro who scored 17 goals across all competitions for them last season.

Now, Biyela has come forward to set the record straight regarding Chivaviro following Gallants’ statement that the striker has joined Chiefs.

As the fight seems to be getting bigger and more bitter, it remains to be seen which team will eventually will win Chivaviro’s signature.
