Radebe has doubts Chiefs will stop Sundowns’ dominance

Bafana Bafana legend Lucas Radebe says he doubts that Kaizer Chiefs will be able to stop Mamelodi Sundowns’ dominance in the domestic scene as they failed to employ a qualified coach.

Radebe has been vocal and trending this week just after his former club, Chiefs announced Molefi Ntseki as the new coach with a view to stop Sundowns’ dominance.

For this reason, Chiefs will continue to top the social media trends for some time after making changes in their technical team – and Radebe argues that Sundowns will be unstoppable.

After uttering a scathing attack on the club’s hierarchy this week, the former Bafana Bafana skipper, Radebe was also trending and some people criticised him for his remarks.

He argued that the introduction of Ntseki as a coach means Sundowns will still boss the DStv Premiership because they have financial muscle.

‘Rhoo’ was sharing his views on the coaching developments at Naturena where Ntseki was named as Arthur Zwane’s successor with immediate effect.

He doesn’t see Amakhosi challenging Masandawana, Sundowns next season as they also managed to clinch six league titles in a row as he pointed fingers at club bosses.

“I don’t know who is going to stop Sundowns. They are still going to dominate for the coming few years. Unfortunately, the pockets are not the same but it is what they put in the game that other teams don’t,” said Radebe this week.

“We need to be more professional, look at the lifestyle of our players. Even in the national team, it is not up to scratch. We have the talent, it is the leadership that is lacking and that is a big thing for us.

“Actually, we have gone backwards throughout the years. We are not in the top five on the continent. It is not a disgrace but it is a big disappointment and it boils down to the structures at the administration level.

“We need new ideas, we need new people that will run football. Football has evolved and it needs professionalism.”

RADEBE VOCAL ON NTSEKI APPOINTMENT AT CHIEFS

Radebe was frank in his assessment of the changes made at Chiefs and said he thought the Soweto giants would bring someone better equipped to lead a big club such as Chiefs.

According to the 1996 CAF African Cup of Nations winner, Ntseki is not the right man for such a big job as Chiefs look to end the eight-year trophy drought.

“I thought we would get somebody better,” said Radebe per Phakaaathi.

“I don’t think he is good enough to be the quality coach for a big club like Kaizer Chiefs. It is a mismatch for me.

“I might be wrong! He might take Chiefs to greater heights…we will have to wait and see.”
