Kaizer Chiefs stars back in from the cold
Not that Nkosingiphile Ngcobo was ever out of favour, but the 23-year-old will be hoping for a change of fortunes after an injury-ravaged campaign in 2022-23. At his best, Mshini is a fan favourite and wonderfully energetic and creative link between midfield and attack. Chiefs only scored 32 goals in 30 games last term. Ngcobo isn’t prolific himself, but having him back in the side will help the Glamour Boys create more chances.

Unlikely defensive options emerging
Mshini’s namesake Njabulo Ngcobo had one foot out the door, but all of a sudden he might be an important defensive option for new coach Ntseki. Given Msimango and Thatayaone Ditlhokwe might be regarded as the new first-choice pair, but Ngcobo will hope to vie for a place. Also, Edmilson Dove could see more game time in his natural left-back spot.
And what about Kgaogelko Sekgota? The winger fed off scraps last season in terms of game-time in the first team, but he’ll be excited about a potential new lease on life in the side.
