Kaizer Chiefs parts ways with midfielder Alexander – Report

Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Cole Alexander is on his way out of Chiefs as per the latest local media reports surrounding his future – he is set to part ways on a mutual agreement.

The former SuperSport United and Bidvest Wits anchorman, Alexander has been liked with a possible return to Tshwane giants and reuniting with former Chiefs coach Gavin Hunt.

It seems the Cape Town-born player, Alexander has already agreed to part ways with the Naturena-based Chiefs on mutual terms.

MIDFIELDER ALEXANDER PARTS WAYS WITH CHIEFS

The midfielder struggled with injuries at Chiefs in the previous season and was used sparingly by former coach Arthur Zwane and his next destination will be decided in the next few days.

SABC Sport reports that Alexander is now a free agent after agreeing to leave the club with a year left on his contract.

This comes after reports that Alexander was locked in talks with the club’s hierarchy with a view to terminating his contract at Chiefs.

As also reported by The South African, the public broadcaster published that the Glamour Boys were in talks with Alexander and defender Austin Dube regarding a payout. 

“While Dube is still negotiating his settlement, it’s now been revealed to SABC Sport that Alexander will leave Naturena,” reports the broadcaster.

“He joined Chiefs from Odisha in the Indian Premier League at the time when Chiefs appointed Stuart Baxter – the two were at the same club.”

In addition, reports also surfaced that the injury-prone midfielder was not in Chiefs’ plans going into the upcoming DStv Premiership season considering he only featured in seven matches throughout the campaign.

Having announced that Zwane has been demoted to the assistant coaching role as Molefi Ntseki takes over the coaching reins, Chiefs will likely continue to make changes to its playing personnel. The latest is that Dube has not been in training this week. 

This publication reported that Amakhosi continue to build their squad for the upcoming campaign and Alexander has been heavily linked with SuperSport.

Should Chiefs confirm his departure, this would mean he will join the likes of Erick Mathoho and Phathutshedzo Nange who recently left the club.

Chiefs could not extend Mathoho, Siyabonga Ngezana has been sold to a Romanian club while Nange has since been unveiled by Hunt as they rekindle their relationship since working together at the now defunct Wits.

Looking at their signings so far, the Soweto giants have captured the likes of Given Msimango, Thatayaone Ditlhokwe, and Mduduzi Mdantsane.
