Player transfer talks begin between Kaizer Chiefs and Richards Bay FC

Having announced their new coach in Molefi Ntseki, Kaizer Chiefs continue shaping their squad for next season, with incomings and departures.

Having already let three players leave the club including two centre backs, Chiefs seem to be intent on letting a third go, in the shape of Austin Dube.

Chiefs have already confirmed the signing of SuperSport United centre back Thatayaone Ditlhokwe, while also being thought to have signed Mduduzi Mdantsane and Given Msimango. Having two centre backs in that list of new signings obviously doesn’t bode well for some of the existing ones at the club. While there is already plenty at Chiefs, it certainly does seemed like former coach Arthur Zwane saw the bulk of them as more quantity than quality last season.

Amakhosi had often used the likes Edmilson Dove, Zitha Kwinika and Siyabonga Ngezana as regular centre back options last season. The likes of Njabulo Ngcobo, Dube and Eric Mathoho were nothing but bit part players for the club during the previous season. Now, with Ngezana gone, it might prove to be a lifeline for one of the centre back that remain at Chiefs.

That centre back, however, looks to be Ngcobo rather than Dube, who it has been virtually no secret that the Chiefs management deem him surplus to requirements. At the beginning of the last season, Zwane lamented the lack of left sided centre backs at the club, while the former Richards Bay man was there at the club and yet to get his opportunity. With that, Dove was signed and Dube only featured once from the start all campaign, in an anticlimactic loss against Golden Arrows.

Richards Bay to offer Dube way out of Chiefs

That seemed to seal his fate as a Chiefs player and it is now being reported by Unplayable that, Amakhosi are in talks with his former side Richards Bay, for a transfer agreement for Dube.
