Pirates kick-off their pre-season training, new faces revealed!!!

Orlando Pirates kick-off their pre-season training on 2 July at the High-Performance Centre in Pretoria.

After a five-week break from club activity, the players marked their return as they undergo their first part of preseason, which involves medicals and general assessments.

Pirates come from a successful 2022/23 DStv Premiership season where they won two trophies and finished second in the league behind Mamelodi Sundowns.

The Buccaneers will conclude all observations this week, before heading to Rustenburg to mark the official start of the 2023 preseason schedule.

Pirates players return after a five-week break

Club physio Kutlwano Molefe said the training will begin with conditioning and assessments.

“The holiday season is over, it is time to knuckle down and prepare for the season ahead,” she told Orlandopiratesfc.com.

“However, before we begin with conditioning and football work, we need to first establish a physical, physiological and psychological base that will determine the rest of the season.

This is probably one of the most important parts of the season.”

The first camp will be from July 2 to July 8, 2023.

After that, the Buccaneers will fly to Spain where they’lll resume their pre-season for two more weeks. They will face Israeli giants Maccabi Tel Aviv in one of their training matches in Spain.

The Buccaneers have already made a few signings

Earlier in the week, Pirates announced the signing of Sephelo Baloni (Cape Town All Stars), Katlego Otladisa (Marumo Gallants), Melusi Buthelezi (TS Galaxy) and Patrick Maswanganyi (SuperSport United).

The quartet is already with the team and will form part of the preseason preparations.
