2022-23 wasn’t a great campaign for Kaizer Chiefs

Chiefs finished the season fifth in the PSL, failing to qualify for continental competition next term. They also didn’t win any silverware, taking their trophy drought into a ninth year. Despite that, the club’s hierarchy have insisted that 10111 will continue to play an integral role with them. They want him to be a vital part of the rebuild, even though it won’t be as their head coach

Arthur Zwane knows Kaizer Chiefs inside out. He’s a club favourite after his playing days at Naturena and has worked with both youth and senior teams as a coach. The club’s hierarchy believes he’s the perfect man to assist new surprise appointment Molefi Ntseki. Zwane also knows the academy players well, having overseen the development of Happy Mashiane, Sabelo Radebe, Mduduzi Shabalala, Samkelo Zwane and Wandile Duba. Mfundo Vilakazi is also reportedly not far from making the grade at first-team level.

Zwane’s humble gesture

Interestingly, a FARPost source revealed that during a meeting recently, Zwane indicated he was willing to work with any coach the club brings.

“Arthur believes the project is bigger than him; it’s about the club for him. He’s openly told management that he’s open to working with anyone they bring,” the source said.

The club’s sporting director has previously said the board of directors is “fully behind the coach”.

Zwane will be a valuable asset to Molefi Ntseki going forward.
