Chiefs set to secure striker signing, but there’s a twist…

As Kaizer Chiefs begin planning for the next transfer window, it’s become evident they will be looking to recruit a new striker in order to improve their firepower up front.

Although efforts to lure Cape Town City striker Khanyisa Mayo to Naturena failed to materialise, it’s been reported that Chiefs are the favourites to sign Ranga Chivaviro from Marumo Gallants.

According to popular online source Unplayable, Chiefs have in fact successfully secured the services of Chivaviro, and could have this confirmed in the coming days.

However, there is apparently a twist, with Richards Bay said to be of the view that the striker has signed a pre-contract with them, although the club is apparently willing to sell.

After scoring 17 goals from 30 appearances in all competitions this season, several clubs have reportedly shown interest in Chivaviro, but the 30-year is believed to have turned down a lucrative offer from Libyan club Al Akhdar.

It’s suggested that a move to Chiefs could now be on the cards, with talks seemingly having proven to be successful between the various parties.

According to a recent report Goal.com, the Burundi international – who initially signed a two-year deal with a further one-year option – will have his contract prematurely cut short despite actually finishing the league season as top scorer.

“Chiefs want to terminate the Bonfils’ contract,” a source told GOAL. “They have approached his representatives and the two parties are now discussing his settlement fee.”
