PSL newcomers hoping to sign Orlando Pirates midfielder!

Orlando Pirates midfielder Collins Makgaka is attracting interest from newly promoted PSL side Polokwane City.

The talented midfielder joined the club in 2020 from Baroka FC but has struggled to leave his mark at the club.

Makgaka made just four appearances for Jose Riveiro’s side last season. All four of which were late cameo appearances!

And now, a potential return back to Polokwane could do his career the world of good!

“The thing is, they are not sure what is going on with the situation at Pirates.” a source told SoccerLaduma.

“Do they want to put him on the transfer list? Do they want to loan him out? Or they are just releasing him?

“Once the situation is clear then Polokwane City can make the right move. But, yes, they are interested in him.

“You remember he used to play for their neighbours Baroka FC? So, they know him very well and he is still young in football terms.”

In other news, Manchester United first team coach Benni McCarthy believes Orlando Pirates shouldn’t celebrate their 2022/23 campaign.

The Buccaneers lifted TWO titles in the form of the MTN8 and Nedbank Cup.

They also finished in second place in the DStv Premiership, albeit well behind champions Mamelodi Sundowns.

Despite their double triumph and securing CAF Champions League football for next season, McCarthy believes it wasn’t ‘good enough’!

Buccaneers must do better – Benni McCarthy

“It’s hard to say if it was a good season for Pirates because you play all year to win the league.” Benni McCarthy told KickOff.

“Winning the MTN8 Cup is great, and winning the Nedbank Cup is also great but I think the big one that you chase is the league.

“In there, they’ve had a great season but by their standards, that’s not good enough. You’re supposed to be pushing Sundowns all the way to the wire. It should be a far closer contest than what it is.”
